The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will host its PurpleStride event in May. For the second straight year, WNCN is a proud sponsor of the 5K Run and Walk and 6 p.m. anchor Melanie Sanders will again serve as emcee. The event is May 17 at North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus.
Registration will open at 8 a.m. on the day of the event, followed by opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and then run/walk beginning at 10 a.m. However, you can register online or mail it in. The mail-in registration deadline is Friday, May 9 and then online registration is Wednesday, May 14 at 11:59 p.m. Register prior to April 15 to guarantee your race t-shirt.
PurpleStride has already raised more than $36,000 as of Tuesday, March 25. Their goal is to raise $172,500. Last year’s event featured over 1,600 participants and collected over $141,000 for pancreatic cancer research and support.
