A Four Oaks police officer was injured Tuesday when his cruiser overturned during a chase involving a motorcycle.

First responders tell WNCN the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Highway 301 near Evans Street in Four Oaks.

Police from Newton Grove, Four Oaks and the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office were all assisting in the chase at the time of the accident.

A vehicle pulled out in front of the motorcycle and was able to miss it, officials said.

The Four Oaks officer swerved to miss the same vehicle but crashed.

The police officer was transported to WakeMed for treatment of injuries.

The motorcyclist was later caught by authorities.
