An 18-year-old from Apex faces numerous charges after he hit and seriously injured a jogger Monday at the intersection of Holly Springs Road and Linksland Drive, Holly Springs police said.
Roberto Carlos Solis-Reyes was charged with:
- Running a red light
- Failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk
- Failure to yield, causing serious bodily injury
- Misdemeanor careless and reckless driving
- Misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle with a permit and not being accompanied by a licensed driver
Authorities said Derek Macrae Davis, 37, of Holly Springs, was jogging with his wife at the time of the accident.
Davis was still listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, officials said.
Davis’ wife was not injured in the incident.
The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Police said it appears Davis and his wife were attempting to cross Holly Springs Road in the crosswalk when he was struck.
Solis-Reyes is scheduled to appear in court May 19.
