Anchor/reporter Phil Sanchez came to WNCN in 2011 after spending several years covering news in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was during his time in Indy that Phil’s reporting won him a regional Emmy and an Associated Press award.
Growing up in Queens, New York, Phil witnessed first-hand the attacks on 9/11. He was glued to the television watching coverage of the tragedy, and that tumultuous event inspired him to pursue a career in broadcasting.
Phil graduated from Adelphi University on Long Island with a degree in sociology.
In 2004, he got his first taste of the television news business, reporting for Long Island News Tonight. A year later, Phil made his way to upstate New York covering Westchester, Rockland and Orange counties.
From there Phil moved to News 12 New Jersey, a 24-hour cable news operation in the New York City market.
Phil’s passion growing up was baseball, and spent many summers on the road playing in different baseball tournaments.
Phil and wife Jennifer have two small children, daughter Sofie and son Shea.
