Two people are dead in Granville County after a tractor trailer ran a red light and smacked their vehicle on N.C. 96.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said Michael L. Green drove through a red light while traveling east on U.S. 158. Green hit a vehicle traveling south on N.C. 96, continued on and then struck a second car going north on 96.

In that second car were driver Bobbie Wilson and passenger Lou Hedspeth Rawls. Both were killed.

The accident happened around 10:35 a.m. Monday.

Green’s tractor-trailer pushed the second vehicle off the roadway into a guardrail and into a ditch.

Green was charged and arrested for misdemeanor death by vehicle and a stop light violation. He was placed under a $10,000 secured bond.
