An inmate being held in a North Carolina jail on charges of fraud in Georgia has been charged again with conducting a fraud operation from within the jail.
The Times-News of Burlington reports 39-year-old Kassiem J. Miley was charged Wednesday with obtaining property by false pretense. Authorities say he was in the Alamance County Detention Center in Graham awaiting extradition to Georgia on separate fraud charges when he approached inmates about asking family to help him order checks in exchange for favors.
Police say Miley provided routing and account numbers to the inmates to pass along. Family members ordered checks for him and deposited them.
At least one check for $150.00 was cashed and deposited into Miley’s commissary account at the jail.
Miley’s extradition to Georgia now being delayed.
