Man arrested after standoff with Fayetteville police

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Thursday evening standoff in Fayetteville ended early Friday morning with a 29-year-old suspect in custody, police said.

Around 8 p.m. on June 4, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 300 block of Highland Avenue in reference to a wanted suspect.

The suspect, Brian Levi Byford, was wanted in Harnett County for robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault with a deadly weapon.

Byford refused to come out of the home until early Friday morning, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Byford was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center.
