RALEIGH, N.C. – Five Raleigh families will received Habitat for Humanity homes this week, all built in a week’s time.
As part of the Habitat for Humanity’s Blitz Build, an army of volunteers come together to do in a week what would normally take three months.
“I just think its amazing how everyone comes together and makes this happen in such a short amount of time,” said Michelle Wilson, who will be receiving one of the homes. “We were out here Friday at 8 o’clock and it was just a slab in the driveway and now it is almost complete.”
The Blitz program has grown since its inception in 2003.
“This is a great way for myself and my company to give back to the community who has stood by us in the home building industry,” said builder Doug DeWitt of SAVVY Homes.
All of the manpower and materials for the homes are donated.
