Authorities have charged a second man, who is from Durham, in the shooting death at a Fayetteville party earlier this month.
The incident, which also wounded 2 other people, happened at a party at a home at 6010 Wagon Wheel Court at approximately 1:20 a.m. on June 7.
Several people were attending a party at the location when a disturbance occurred, the investigation revealed. The disturbance resulted in gunshots being fired in the street in front of the home.
23-year-old Demario Eastmon of Fayetteville was charged last Wednesday with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 25-year-old Leandre Laguerre.
Eastmon is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly hitting another man on the head. He is in jail.
On Monday evening, police said that Matthew Emmanuel Brown, age 23, of the 1300 block of Stateworth Drive in Durham is now also charged with First Degree Murder. Brown has been processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he remains without bond, police say
Three people were shot. One was killed and two others were injured. Both injured victims were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where one is listed in good condition and the other underwent surgery.
The investigation is ongoing and Fayetteville police have asked that anyone with any information about the shooting contact them.
