Severe thunderstorm warning for Wake County

The National Weather Service issued a severe weather service for Wake County on Wednesday night.

The warning was issued around 10:10 pm and lasts until 11:15 pm, the weather service said.

Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds of 58 mph. This storm was located near Raleigh… and moving southeast at 20 mph.

Locations impacted include… Raleigh… Cary… RDU international Airport… Morrisville… Knightdale… Lake Benson… William B Umstead State Park and Lake  Wheeler.

“In addition to large hail and damaging winds… continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm,” the weather service said.

Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of natures leading killers. Remember… if you can hear thunder… you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
