RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Raleigh Police have arrested and charged a second person in connection with a deadly shooting on Halloween in 2009.
Police said early Thursday morning that they arrested and charged Ivan McFarland, 41, with murder in the 2009 shooting death of 32-year-old James Carol Deberry.
The killing happened shortly after 9 p.m. on Oct. 31, 2009 in the 5900 block of Shadetree Lane.
The shooting victim, Deberry, was transported to WakeMed, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Shortly afterward, two suspects were charged with murder in connection with Deberry’s death. However, a jury deadlocked when one of the suspects, James Harold Courtney, 48, was tried and a conviction was not obtained.
On Tuesday, police rearrested Courtney and charged him with murder in Deberry’s death.
The investigation is ongoing.
