HONOLULU (AP) – The University of North Carolina men’s basketball team is returning to Honolulu for a game against Hawaii.
The perennial powerhouse and Hawaii have agreed to a play a 2016 game in Honolulu.
The game will be the fifth between the two schools. North Carolina has won four.
When the teams last played in 1994, it was the first men’s basketball sell-out at the then-Special Events Arena.
The Nov. 16, 2016, game will be held at what’s now named Stan Sheriff Center.
Hawaii coach Eran Ganot says the game is a tremendous opportunity to compete with one of college basketball’s premier programs.
He says it took a lot of effort by many to schedule an opponent of this caliber.
