BAYBORO, NC (WNCT) — A cook supervisor at the Pamlico County Detention Facility is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with one inmate and providing drugs to others, officials say.
47-year-old Dawn Brigman Hayes of Merritt, N.C. was charged with (6) Counts of Sexual Offense by a Custodian, (1) Count of Possession of Controlled Substance in a Jail Facility, (1) Count of Possession with intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, and (1) Count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Sheriff Chris Davis says they got a tip about Hayes’ activities Friday and, on Sunday morning, performed a search of the detention facility, where no illegal drugs were located. They also searched Hayes’ personal belongings, however, and found marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia.
She was placed in the Pamlico County Detention Facility under a $150,000 secured bond. Her first appearance in court will happen later this week.
Hayes is employed by Trinity Food Service Group, a company that is contracted to prepare and serve food within the Pamlico County Detention Facility.
According to her Facebook profile, Hayes previously worked at River Dunes in Oriental and is from Kinston.
