RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Natty Greene’s Brewing Co. will close its Raleigh location on Aug. 1.
The brewery says a recent change in ownership of the building resulted in Natty Greene’s being replaced by a new restaurant group, according to a release sent out Wednesday.
“Natty Greene’s had made plans with the previous landlord, with whom they had a strong partnership, to extend the lease. However, the new owner of the building could not guarantee that they would not allow other companies the option to take over the lease at a higher rental rate,” the release stated.
Natty Greene’s, which is based in Greensboro, opened its Raleigh location in 2010.
On Twitter, Natty Greene’s tweeted “Thanks for the support! Cheers to #NCBeers” in reply to Shop Local Raleigh who tweeted, “We will miss your amazing food General!!! So Blessed to be able to buy your #NcBeer on shelves.”
“We had planned to be a part of the downtown Raleigh community for years to come,” said Kayne Fisher, Co-founder. “Raleigh has become a second home to Natty Greene’s where the community support will making closing down the brewhouse an even harder transition.”
Natty Greene’s will hold an all-day far3well on Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. proceeds from the event will benefit the staff at Natty Greene’s Raleigh location.
