NASHVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Anthony D. Jackson resigned Monday following a meeting with board members.
Jackson issued a statement Monday saying, “Tonight’s decision while bittersweet is reflective of the will of the majority of the board. I accept it and I am now focused on pursuing the next chapter of the professional journey.”
Jackson has been the superintendent at Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools for the past four years.
“While not a perfect science, I am confident, and I take great pride in knowing that I leave the Nash-Rocky Mount Public School System, a better place for children than I found it,” Jackson said in a statement.
Jackson also said that graduation rates were up and dropout rates were down.
