MIDLAND, N.C. (WBTV) – Family and friends identified the person who died in a head-on collision as an 18-year-old girl who had just graduated high school.

The accident happened on Highway 200 near Reed Mine Road in Midland on Friday afternoon.

Friends say 18-year-old Haley Marie Allen drifted off the road, over-corrected and slammed into oncoming traffic. They say no alcohol was involved. They also said Allen wasn’t speeding or texting, and that it was just a terrible accident.

Those same friends set up a GoFundMe account because Allen’s family had no insurance. They say no funeral is set because they can’t afford one.

Haley graduated from Central Cabarrus High School two weeks before the crash.
