MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Hundreds celebrate Independence Day a night early in Morrisville.
The Morrisville Community Park held its annual fireworks Friday night. The rain held off for most of the night and just as the sun set, a grand display of light and sound filled the sky for more than 15 minutes.
Families from all over Wake County and beyond came out to watch the free event. One man said he was visiting from Germany.
“I didn’t know that the Fourth of July there’s this special day,” Uwe Aust said.
Others said it was a time to celebrate freedom and family.
“It’s a good day to bring people together. It’s a good day to get together and do things,” Nick Petron said.
“I mean we all work. All three families here tonight,” Rustica Cerillo said, “Even though we live so close together, but we don’t see each other as frequently and having this kind of event helps us get together.”
