LAKE NORMAN, NC (WBTV) – A 17-year-old died on the Fourth of July while wake boarding on Lake Norman, according to the North Carolina Wildlife Commission. The driver of the boat that allegedly hit her has been charged.
Commission officers say the teenaged girl was hit and killed by another boater at about 9 p.m. Saturday night. It happened near Little Acorn Lane.
The driver of the boat, Keith Owen Cerven from Mooresville, was arrested and charged with driving a boat while intoxicated. Cerven is being held under a $10,000 secured bond.
Sheyenne Marshall, age 17, of Concord was knee boarding behind a pontoon boat on Lake Norman — wearing her lifevest — when she was hit by a boat, officials say.
Authorities have released few details about the incident.
