Spencer, N.C. (WBTV) – A man was struck and killed by a Norfolk Southern freight train in Spencer Sunday night, according to officials. Several hours later, a second person was hit and killed by another train.
According to the report, in the first incident the man was sitting on the railroad tracks behind the North Carolina Transportation Museum when he was hit by the northbound train. The engineer on the train reportedly blew the horn several times, but the man did not move.
The accident happened at around 9 p.m. on a section of track that is between the NCTM in Spencer and Torbush Avenue in East Spencer.
The man’s name has not been released.
The second person was struck and killed in the same area. That person’s name has not been released.
