FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — Two young people are charged in connection with a shooting late last week that left a Hope Mills man in serious condition in Fayetteville, police said Monday.
The shooting happened around 3:45 pm on Thursday during a confrontation with a person the victim knew in the Arran Lakes subdivision, Fayetteville Police said.
Dylan Rudy Castro, age 20, of the 2700 block of Franciscan Drive was charged Monday with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Also, Alexis Nicole Brooks, age 19, of the 700 block of Sunny Crest Drive was charged with Accessory after the Fact and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
Police said the 41-year-old man who was shot was with two women in a vehicle when they were followed by a known suspect onto Tillman Court.
When victim got out of the vehicle to confront the suspect, the suspect then pulled out a gun and shot the victim, police said.
After 911 was called, the victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition.
The suspect left the scene in a light blue Volvo. A compact white vehicle could have been with the suspect vehicle, police said.
The victim was later released from the hospital.
Castro has been arrested and processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he remains under a $135,000 secured bond.
Brooks has been arrested and processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where she remains under a $25,000 secured bond.
