Man arrested in Va. after NC teen girl is found, police say

KINSTON, NC (WNCT) — The Kinston Department of Public Safety said that a 47-year-old man in Virginia has been charged with felony child abduction after a 15 year old girl vanished on Sunday.

A runaway juvenile report was made for Ashane Lashawn Jenkins by Sylvia Noel, Jenkins foster parent, on July 5 when officers responded to a home on Hodges Road in Kinston

Authorities told WNCT, that Jenkins’ disappearance was suspicious and that she wasconsidered to be in grave danger.  A vehicle believed  involved in the disappearance was located in Virginia. They believed Ashane was traveling to Portsmouth, VA at the time of her disappearance.

Ashane Jenkins was found in Kinston, police said Monday night, thanks to a tip received from media coverage.

Joesph Dean Ringo, age 47, of Portsmouth, Virginia was taken in custody in Portsmouth.

Ringo faces charges of Felony Child Abduction in this case and will return to Lenoir County to face the charges.
