Raleigh man arrested after woman dies in hit-and-run crash in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Authorities have arrested a Raleigh man after a fatal hit-and-run in Wilmington last week.

According to officials, a female pedestrian was struck by a car near the intersection of S. College Road and Cedar Avenue around 9 p.m. Friday,. The suspect then left the scene of the accident.

The victim, 44-year-old Caroline Ashley Weis of Wilmington, was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where she later passed away due to her injuries.

According to Cathryn Lindsay, spokesperson for the Wilmington Police Department, Andrew John Washick, 20, of Raleigh was arrested and charged him with felony hit-and-run.
