FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A 19-year-old who was critically injured Monday night in a motorcycle crash has died, Fayetteville Police confirmed Tuesday morning.
The crash was first reported at approximately 6:32 p.m. Monday. When officers responded to the area of Cliffdale Road near Brookstone Lane in reference to a report of a traffic accident involving a motorcycle.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the motorcycle was traveling on Cliffdale Road from Bunce Road towards 71st School Road when it ran into silver Toyota Tundra that was turning left into the Brookstone Apartments from Cliffdale Road, police said.
The driver of the motorcycle, 19-year-old Holden Jeffrey Philbrook of Fort Bragg, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center by ambulance for severe life-threatening injuries. Late Monday, he was life flighted to UNC Hospital at Chapel Hill where was listed in critical condition, police said.
On Tuesday, police confirmed Philbrook died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra was not injured.
