CARY, NC (WNCN) — Police in the Triangle are looking for a brazen pair who slipped $3,000 worth of designer items into their pants during a daylight robbery of a boutique on Monday.
The incident happened around 4 pm on Monday at Adore Boutique at 4226 North West Cary Parkway in Cary, police say.
The store had customers inside, several video cameras rolling and at least one worker, however, the pair of thieves were highly skilled, the owner of the store told WNCN after reviewing surveillance video.
“They basically robbed us blind. They targeted high end items,” said Nancy Alinovi, who owns the store that sells designer clothes, purses and accessory items.
The robbery happened while after the manager at the time was distracted by an in-store alarm that appeared to be malfunctioning, Alinovi said.
That manager was on the phone with the alarm company and was also having to check the alarm panel elsewhere in the store.
The two thieves – a man and woman – went straight for the best, most expensive stuff on the racks.
“They knew what they were looking for. These thieves have been in here before. They read labels and prices and stuffed them into their pants and purse and left,” Alinovi told WNCN.
The store has products from St. John, Armani, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Coach, Chanel and many other designers.
Alinovi says she’s releasing the video hoping someone will ID suspects.
