DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – After acting on a tip, Durham police arrested two people Thursday on methamphetamine-related charges.
Officers from Durham police’s HEAT 4 squad went to apartment 604 in the 400 block of Archdale Drive and found evidence of meth inside and outside of the apartment.
Waymond Scott Parrish, 43, and Carolyn Michelle Parten, 31, both of 401 Archdale Drive, were both charged with maintaining a dwelling for the manufacture, sale or delivery of controlled substances, manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing lithium to manufacture methamphetamine and possessing pseudoephedrine to manufacture methamphetamine ,police said.
Parrish is a former trooper with the State Highway Patrol. He was hired in November 1993 and voluntarily resigned from the patrol on Sept. 12, 2012. He was a sergeant at the time he resigned.
Parrish and Parten are in the Durham County Jail under $550,000 each.
The SBI and the Durham Police Department’s Bio-Chemical Response Team responded to the apartment.
Police said several jugs of liquid were taken from the residence for testing.
Durham police had previously received a complaint concerning heavy drug activity in that area.
