FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — A family was rescued after their boat flipped over on Lake Rim on Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m., when the Fayetteville Fire/Emergency Management Department responded to a Water Rescue Emergency located at 2214 Tar Kiln Drive (Lake Rim) off Old Raeford Road.

“911 calls received reported an overturned boat with four individuals in the water approximately 300 yards off shore and in need of immediate rescue,” said Fayetteville Asst. Fire Chief Richard Bradshaw.

First arriving Fire Department units deployed a total of six rescue swimmers to assist the individuals in the water while a Fire Department Rescue Boat was being launched, Bradshaw said.

“Two adults and two children along with two canines were safely removed from the water and returned to shore by the Fire Department Boat,” Bradshow said.

All four were checked out by EMS and received no injuries.

This was the second Water Rescue Incident since Friday for the Department, according to Bradshaw.
