CLAYTON, NC (WNCN) — A Selma woman has been charged in the weekend shooting death of a 42-year-old man who had been charged in the May killing of his teen girlfriend, officials say.
Johnston County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Annie Marie Artis, age 42, of Oak Street and charged her with murder in the death of Derrick Lester Williams, who was killed early Sunday, deputies said Tuesday afternoon.
Williams was a suspect in the death of his 18-year-old girlfriend, Moesha Lockamy, in early May. Wilson’s Mills police charged Williams with second-degree murder after he shot and killed Lockamy early on the morning of May 2 at a home located at 92 Mitchner Drive.
Williams’ death was discovered after deputies were dispatched to 527 Slate Top Road near Clayton in the early Sunday morning, where a party was being held at “The Sugar Shack,” Johnston County Sheriff’s Officials said.
Williams was found lying in the yard shot multiple times, officials said Tuesday.
“Detectives have worked tirelessly on this murder investigation which is ongoing, with the possibility of additional arrests,” said Sheriff Steve Bizzell.
Artis is being held in the Johnston County Jail without bond.
