Mom who vanished in NC is found, but has memory trouble

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WNCN) – A Chesterfield woman who went missing in North Carolina has been found, according to her husband.

Jonathan Basham says Candy Basham, who went missing over the weekend, is on the way back to Virginia. She returned to her mother’s home in Gastonia, NC around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Jonathan, Candy does not remember the past several days. The 37-year-old had not been seen since she took her mother home to North Carolina over the weekend.

Jonathan Basham, Candy’s husband of three years, said he noticed some strange activity on the couple’s shared bank account. He said $800 was taken out.

Candy Basham made it to her mother’s house Saturday, but never made it to see her 12-year-old son who also lives in North Carolina.

Jonathan Basham said that his wife hadn’t been answering her phone either.

“I tried to call her plenty of times. Her phone was available the last couple of days, but she never picked up. [She never] called any family, friends, nobody and her phone’s been off all day today,” said Jonathan. “[It has been] beyond stressful, because I don’t know if she’s dead, or alive, or kidnapped, or whatever is going on,” Basham said.
