BLADENBORO, NC (WECT) — A Bladenboro woman is headed to prison after pleading guilty to killing her husband in 2013.
According to Assistant District Attorney Glenn Emery, Becky Nance, 56, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 14-18 years in prison.
On Feb 8, 2013, Nance called 911 around 6:30 a.m. and requested deputies respond to her residence off of NC 410 in Bladenboro.
According to officials with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found Becky’s husband, Dewey Franklin Nance, in the couple’s bedroom dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Nance admitted to investigators that she shot and killed her husband. She was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
The couple had two grown children, a boy and a girl. Friends said that Dewey Nance had owned Nance’s Auto Sales in Bladenboro for more than 20 years, WECT reported.
Nance’s lawyer, Mike McGuinness, presented evidence regarding her mental health, saying she suffered from PTSD and major depressive disorder at the time of the murder.
