Armed robbery reported near Duke University’s campus

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – An armed robbery was reported in the 300 block of Swift Avenue near Duke University’s campus early Friday morning.

Duke issued a crime alert on its website, alerting students and staff.

Duke University said two suspects, one of whom had a handgun, approached the victim and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene and no injuries were reported.

One suspect was described as a tall male with a dark complexion. The second suspect was described as a male but shorter than the first suspect with a dark complexion. Both were wearing dark clothing, Duke University said.

The two suspects left in a gold colored car heading toward N.C. Highway 147.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Duke University Police Department at (919) 684-2444.
