Longtime Apex Police Department crossing guard retires

Carcillar Hinton retired on July 30 after serving as a crossing guard for 12 years at Apex Elementary.

APEX, N.C. (WNCN) – A longtime crossing guard for the Apex Police Department retired after 12 years this week.

Carcillar Hinton retired on July 30 after serving as a crossing guard for 12 years at Apex Elementary.

Apex police said in a statement that Hinton “has helped countless numbers of children cross the road safely and get to school.”

Captain Ann Stephens of the Apex Police Department said that Hinton “will be missed by the department, parents, school staff and many children.”

The department held a retirement reception for Hinton on Thursday.
