Sampson Co. authorities investigating homicide after body found in wrecked car

CLINTON, N.C. (WNCN) – Sampson County authorities are investigating a homicide that occurred late Friday night near Clinton.

Sampson County emergency dispatch received a report of multiple gun shots fired in the area of Dogwood Acres on U.S. Route 701 outside of Clinton just before midnight. Not long after, another call was received, this time in regards to a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole at Dogwood Acres.

Emergency crews arrived on scene and found the body of Christopher Anjantre Wright, 20, of Clinton, inside the vehicle that had crashed.

Sampson County Sheriff’s Investigators processed the scene throughout the night and interviewed area residents.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide. Authorities said they have no suspect or motive at this time.
