GOLDSBORO, NC (WNCN) — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said that a witness helped save a child from drowning Saturday evening at Busco Beach.
Deputies say they received the call around 7:20 p.m. about a toddler who was unresponsive.
Deputies say the toddler was around either 2 or 3 years old. They said a witness saw the child in the water and rushed to pull the toddler to safety.
The person was able to perform CPR until EMS located the child.
A deputy drove the ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital while the EMS worked to take care of the toddler.
Busco Beach and ATV Park is a recreational riding facility and man-made beach in Goldsboro. A Raleigh teenager drowned there in 2012, according to info from WITN-TV.
The child from Saturday’s incident is still at the hospital and is expected to be okay.
