“He came by shooting me,” said Samaya Hargrove, who now has a patch on her right eye. “And he shot me right in the eye.”

Hargrove rushed to her mother, Tesha Bullock, while holding her bloody face and telling her mother, “Momma, I’ve been shot!”

Hargrove was released from Duke Hospital on Tuesday.

“People are telling me how strong I am and stuff,” Hargrove said.

But the terror of what happened has left a stunning mark.

“I’m scared it might happen again,” she said.

Bullock said she is proud of how well her daughter has handled the event.

Her mother, Tesha Bullock, said she is proud of how well her daughter has handled the situation.

“I have to stay strong for her, but when I’m alone that’s when it hurts me the most,” Bullock said.

“It opened my eyes to be a better parent, better mother, just a better individual all the way around.”

But Samaya has a long road to full recovery. Bullock said she has another surgery ahead.

“She’s going to have scars for life,” Bullock said. “She’s never going to see right again. It’s changed her forever.”

Also injured Monday was Aisha Taylor, 18.

Hargrove lost her right eye and suffered a skull fracture in the shooting, police said.

Henderson police posted on Facebook that Hargrove is happy to be alive but scared to go outside.

She was taken to Duke Hospital after the shooting for treatment.

Police said that, according to witnesses, the incident occurred when a vehicle pulled up to a group of people standing in front of the apartment building and started shooting at them.

Henderson police said they are offering a $1,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the shooting.
