RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – With more than 20 events scheduled for September, it’s shaping up to be a big month for Raleigh.
Because of all the events going on, Raleigh has named September as the M.A.I.N. Event – Music, Art, Innovation and Noise.
Mayor Nancy McFarlane announced the events that are part of the M.A.I.N. Event at a press conference at noon Friday at City Plaza in downtown Raleigh.
“The city’s growing reputation as a destination for Innovation and the Arts is unmistakable as we look at the calendar of events in September,” Mayor McFarlane said. “While each event is unique, the common threads of music, art, innovation and noise connect all of the M.A.I.N. Event activities and will help to highlight Raleigh’s diverse community and attract visitors who want to experience all that the city has to offer.“
Representatives of the 20-plus activities scheduled for the month of September were in attendance to talk about their events.
A few of the festivities taking place in September include the African American Cultural Festival, Hopscotch Music Festival, Sparkcon and IBMA’s World of Bluegrass.
Raleigh officials estimate that the events will bring in 400,000 visitors to the city during the month of September.
