RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – WNCN and Shred-It have teamed up once again to provide free and secure personal document destruction for the community on Saturday in Durham, but unfortunately, the event had to be cut short due to mechanical issues with a truck.
Saturday’s event was held at Northgate Mall at 1058 West Club Blvd.
The event began at 10 a.m. and was scheduled to wrap up promptly at 2 p.m. A shredding truck caught fire at one point and the event was called off around 12 p.m.
The Durham event is hosted by Frontier Communications.
The general public was invited to attend. No businesses please. Volunteers were on site to provide assistance. Limit four boxes of documents per person.
These events are part of WNCN’s “At Your Service” community service initiative. NC811 is co-presenting both events.
Earlier, WNCN held a Shred-It event in Fayetteville.
