2 men shot in Goldsboro; 1 dead, 1 in critical condition

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – Goldsboro police are investigating the shooting of two men that left one dead and another in critical condition Saturday morning.

Police responded to a shooting call at the intersection of Royall Avenue and N. Herman Street just after midnight Saturday.

Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle on the railroad tracks just east of the intersection. The vehicle had crashed into the railroad tracks and came to a rest on top of the tracks. Officers checked on the passengers and found two men that had been shot, police said.

The victim in the driver’s seat, identified as Kasheem Jones, 25, of Goldsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, identified as Robert Lee Cole, 21, of Goldsboro, was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital and subsequently transported to Vidant Medical Center. He is listed in critical condition.
