Updates to NC Immunization Requirement for 2015-16 school year

The following changes in the North Carolina Immunization Requirements will take effect at the beginning of the 2015-16 school year:

-Meningococcal vaccine: One dose for students is required before entering the 7th grade OR by 12 year of age, whichever comes first.  A second booster dose is required for these students again before entering the 12th grade or 17 years of age, beginning in the 2020-2021 school year.

-Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Whooping Cough) Tdap: One dose of Tdap vaccine is required for students who have not previously received Tdap before entering the 7th grade OR by 12 year of age, whichever comes first. Both Meningococcal and Tdap vaccines can be given safely at the same time but in different body sites.
