CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A family of four is displaced after heavy storms sent a tree crashing through their Mason Drive home late Tuesday
night.

The homeowner, Katina White-Price,says she was cooking dinner around 9:30 p.m. when the storm rolled through and she heard a loud boom.

“The sound of the tree was like a roaring train coming through. I really felt like I was in a tornado,” said White-Price.

White-Price says she ran into a bathroom near the front of the home with her dog and took cover in a bathtub.

After everything settled, she came out and saw the damage.

The tree came crashing through her master bedroom, located in the rear of the home, where she says her family frequently watches television.

“Me dying goes through my mind because where that tree landed, it could have been on top of me. I was very afraid,” White-Price said.

Three of the family members were not home at the time when the tree came down.

White-Price nor her dog were injured in the incident.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
