FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — A man driving a work van offered help to a woman on Sunday afternoon, but then took her away and sexually assaulted her, Fayetteville Police say.
Police were told about the incident on Sunday around 4:30 p.m., and learned the sexual assault happened along the 5200 block of Raeford Road.
“…the victim was approached by a white male driving a white work van who offered his assistance. The victim got into the van and was driven to an unknown location where she was sexually assaulted,” detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Special Victim’s Unit said in a press release.
The suspect vehicle is described as an older white work van with double doors on the back with a ladder rack on the roof. The van was described as having a magnetic sign on the passenger side door with black lettering and no seats in the back of the van.
The suspect is described as:
- White male
- Approximately 30 years of age
- Muscular build
- Approximately 6’0 tall, 170-180 lbs.
- Dirty blonde hair with a ponytail
- Short hair on the top and sides
- Mustache (unshaven appearance)
- Mole on the left side of his face
- Tattooed lips on the left side of his neck
- Pierced right ear with no earring
- Possibly walks with a limp or hobble

Detectives with the Special Victims Unit of the Fayetteville Police Department are actively investigating the sexual assault.
