CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A baby was recovering Thursday afternoon after accidentally swallowing heroin, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Investigators say Staheen Ramos-Murray was taking care of his son when it happened Monday, August 17 on Marvin Road in southeast Charlotte. Ramos-Murray is also accused of assaulting the child’s mother and threatening her nephew who was also there.
Police say he then stole a car and fled the scene, but he was arrested nearby by CMPD officers.
Ramos-Murray is facing child abuse charges, assault charges, vehicle theft charges, and drug charges.
Officials said the child was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with minor injuries, but have not given an update to his condition.
