Reward offered in Durham apartment arson, burglaries

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Durham police said a CrimeStoppers reward is being offered for information leading to arrests in a series of intentionally set fires and burglaries at Lynn Haven Apartments in August.

On Aug. 2, a fire was reported at building 911 at the apartment complex, located at 917 Wadesboro Street. Two units were damaged by fire with six others sustaining smoke damage.

A dog and a cat died in the Aug. 2 fires.

On Aug. 11, a piece of burning wood was placed under a window at the complex’s main office.

Around 3:40 a.m. on Aug. 19, a fire destroyed all of the laundry machines in a room next to the main office.

Durham police said all three fires were deliberately set.

On Aug. 7, three burglaries were reported to apartments that were damaged in Aug. 2’s fires.

Another burglary was reported Aug. 9 where electronics were taken.
