3 motorcycles involved in 2 crashes, minutes apart, late Sunday in Johnston County

The driver and passenger on this motorcycle were sideswiped by an oncoming truck after pulling over to the left shoulder in response to another accident that injured two motorcyclists late Sunday night in Johnston County.

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. (WNCN) – Two separate crashes involving motorcyclists happened minutes apart on Highway 70 Sunday night, a state trooper told WNCN.

It happened just before 10 p.m. near Ranch Road and 70 Business. Three motorcyclists were riding together, when one driver accidentally rear ended another. One driver is being treated for road rash.

They both pulled over to the right side of the roadway after the crash.

The third motorcyclist pulled over to the left shoulder. An oncoming pickup truck sideswiped the bike. That driver and his passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges are still pending as the investigation continues.
