INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indiana woman is trying to get a company to stop selling a controversial costume, made from an incident in which a dentist killed a beloved lion.
Earlier this year, Dr. Walter Palmer traveled to Africa and killed Cecil the Lion. He posted a photo with the dead animal, sparking outrage.
Now, costumeish.com, has created “Lion Killer Dentist Halloween costume.” It includes dentist clothing, covered in blood, and a lion head.
An Indianapolis woman, Doreen Harley, started a petition to get the company to remove the costume. As of Monday, the petition has more than 70,000 signatures.
On the costume website, it states, “We reserve our right to freedom of speech and expression and will not be removing this costume for any reason whatsoever.”
The company is selling the costume for $139.99.
