Man shot in back at Raleigh hotel, police search for suspect

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Raleigh Police are searching for man who they say shot another man in the back at a hotel in the 3800 block of New Bern Avenue Monday morning.

Officers were called to the Knights Inn Hotel at 3804 New Bern Ave. shortly before 9 a.m in response to a shooting call.

Officers found Lenin Alvaringa, 27, suffering from a gunshot wound. Alvaringa was taken to WakeMed for treatment.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect coming up behind the victim and shooting him in the back. The suspect can then be seen taking Alvaringa’s money.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in a blue BMW or Volvo.

As seen in the surveillance photo, the victim appears to be a black male who stands around 5 feet 10 inches tall and has a thin build. The man wore his hair pulled to the back of his head and is said to walk with either a limp or distinctive gait.
