Southeast Raleigh residents review rezoning plans

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) — Dozens of southeast Raleigh residents came out to a meeting about rezoning on Monday evening.

City leaders say the rezoning is necessary to prepare for major population growth, but many who have lived in their homes for decades worry new commercial development will change their neighborhoods

“People need to be able to defend where they made the purchase of their homes and it not be changed without giving the citizens an opportunity to have input,” said Lonnette Williams, Southeast Raleigh Resident

On Monday night, residents had a chance to ask questions of planners and look at maps of proposed changes for their neighborhoods.
