David Hurst comes to WNCN from Columbus, Georgia, where he worked as a reporter at WRBL-TV.
While working in Columbus, several of David’s stories received national attention. Those included a story about a local school district arming students with cans to fight off school intruders, a story about conjoined twins being born to a local family, and his live coverage from Pasadena, California, of Auburn’s run to the BCS National Championship in 2014.
David also enjoys working on investigative pieces and stories that hold the powerful accountable. In Columbus, the city’s Inspection and Code Director resigned shortly after David broke the story about the city’s building inspectors lacking the proper certification.
David is a proud graduate of the University of Georgia. While at UGa, he worked as a Multimedia Journalist at Grady NewSource, the student-produced news source for Northeast Georgia. Several of his stories were nominated to represent the University of Georgia at the Hearst Journalism Awards.
Outside of work, David enjoys watching sports, working out and checking out all the great restaurants in the Triangle.
He’s excited to be a part of the community and the WNCN team. He says he is always available to viewers, so never hesitate to contact him to discuss or pitch a story idea. You can email him at DHurst@wncn.com or contact him on Facebook or Twitter.
