CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) – A Conway woman is behind bars after she and her newborn child tested positive for cocaine, according to Horry County Police.
An incident report from the Horry County Police Department details how a South Carolina Department of Social Services worker reported Angela Marie Lee, 40, of Conway, to officials after she gave birth July 31 and the baby tested positive for cocaine.
The report states the infant was born at Conway Medical Center on July 31 and during the routine drug screen, both Lee and the infant tested positive for the schedule II controlled substance.
The newborn has been placed in the custody of a family member.
Lee was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center Wednesday at 9:03 a.m. on charges of unlawful neglect of a child and failure to appear. According to online booking records, Lee remains incarcerated as of Friday night.
