CLAYTON, NC (WNCN) — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with broken bones Saturday night after a near head-on collision with a car in Clayton, officials say.

The crash happened just after 9 p.m. just off NC 42 West on Barber Mill Road near Cheltenham Drive in Clayton, said Stacy Beard, Town of Clayton Public Information Officer.

Town of Clayton Police and Fire responded immediately to treat those injured in the crash, which included the driver of a car and the motorcyclist, Beard said.

Kevin Medina, age 23, of Clayton, who was on the motorcycle, was rushed to Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh, according to Beard.

Charges are pending against the driver of the car, 55-year-old Steven Ellen also of Clayton, who witnesses say may have turned in front of the motorcycle, Beard said in a press release.

Ellen was treated on scene by Johnston County EMS but was not transported to the hospital.
