Fort Bragg soldier injured in NC shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A 36-year-old Fort Bragg soldier drove himself to a gas station after he was shot on King Arthur Drive early Sept. 10.

Walter Turner drove himself to the Kangaroo, at 5336 Cliffdale Road, after being shot in the parking lot of 830 King Arthur Drive around 5 a.m., police said.

An investigation by detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department and CID agents from Fort Bragg led to the arrest of Leone Joseph Thuo.

Thuo, 24, was charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.

He’s being held at the Cumberland County Detention Facility with no bond.
